Up at 9 hour to get ready and then I'm off but something is different this
time...... it's 20 degrees outside and there are a couple of inchs of snow on
the ground....... oh well, lets go anyway I told myself, and off I went.
The
first uphill was bad but running it was bad too. Then onto the true trail
slipping over logs inches high was odd at first but then I figured it out - you
don't go fast!. Then I found myself going up easy hills at 90 degree hills
that were easy but now had to be walked. Then up the switchbacks lots of fun
to carve them while going up them. Almost hit a few trees and tried to go
"golfing" more than once...... you all know the joke "I went golfing today
and only hit 2 good balls, I stepped on a rake" well, I hit a log and almost
did.
Then to the speed area and it was a speed area at 25 mph. Over hardpacked snow
thanks to snow-mobiles was fun until I started to the technical part and then
I died.... in short, happy bliss. Then I got a stupid idea... hey if the deer
have paths that they have made and they can go over them, why can't I? Well, I
told myself why - I don't have 4 hoofs, and they can fit between the obstacles
and over snow.
In short, when I got back onto the road to ride home I looked
like some of the deer droppings and felt like one too...
