Sigma Sport BC-800 Wireless Computer

This wireless computer features:

* Speed in MPH
* Trip Distance
* Clock
* Riding Time
* Maximum Speed
* Average Speed
* Speed Comparison

Having ridden with the Sigma Sport for over two years, I can whole heartily recommend this product. It is on my Cannondale Super V 700 Freeride, and has been reliable and dependable. There are a few tips, however, for the first time user...

1) Before mounting the reciever on your handlebar, wrap a few layers of electrical tape around the bar where you plan to mount the small receiver. This will help it to stay in place and not rotate.

2) Use an additional thick rubber band when mounting the transmitter to the fork leg, along with the one provided, if you plan to ride on bumpy terrain.

3) Also, you may want to use a rubber band and wrap it around the computer itself to help hold it on the mount for rugged terrain.

That's about it for the tips... The transmitter will occasionally require slight re-positioning on the fork tube. Simply align the spoke fitting so that it passes next to the transmitter sensing unit. Check this before each ride. To verify that the computer is working, simply lift the front wheel off the ground and spin it and check the readout.

Here is where I find the Sigma Sport most useful:

>It can tell you how far you have ridden in a day, and gives you some idea of whether or not you are justified in feeling worn out or exhausted!

>It can help in navigation by knowing distance measurements between two points, and also how many miles the half way point is on out and back rides.

>It tells you the current speed at which you are traveling, so you can better time your rides as well as see how fast you are going.

>It lets you know your average speed, and your current speed and gives you a goal to ride to.

>It records the actual time spent pedaling.

>It provides a little variety, and gives you something to do on long, easy rides. It's fun to play with!

Here is the way to test the batteries in the transmitter and the receiver:

1. Press the blue button. The battery has sufficient charge if the control lamp lights up. If the lamp does not light up the battery or batteries have to be changed. The sender has four batteries, and is mounted on the fork. The receiver has one battery, and is mounted on the handlebar.

2. To test the sender: press the blue button and spin the front wheel immediately. The control lamp has to blink every time thie spoke magnet runs past the wheel sensor. Please check whether the distance between the spoke magnet and the wheel sensor is set correctly if the lamp does not blink.

3. To test the receiver: press the blue button and spin the front wheel immediately. The control lamp has to blink every time the spoke magnet runs past the wheel sensor. If the lamp does not blink check the angles setting and distance between transmitter and receiver. The angle setting must not exceed 30 degrees. The distance should not be greater than 70 cm. Note: testing is only possible within one minute after pressing yellow button.

4. Please note when changing batteries: pay attention to correct selection off plus and minus poles. With the battery compartment open the plus poles must be visible. Also check for the correct seating of the battery compartment seal when closing.

5. Batteries: Sender - 4 X 1.5 Volt, Type SR44 (G 13), 11.6 X 5.4mm Receiver - 1 X 3 Volt, Lithium, Type CR2032
